Rodrigue Guiguemdé shapes Africa's digital governance as a key figure in continental digital transformation
Rodrigue Guiguemdé, a Burkinabe expert in digital infrastructure, plays a significant role in shaping Africa's digital architecture. As a senior executive at Smart Africa and former Vice-President of the Governmental Advisory Committee GAC of ICANN, he contributes to strategic digital policy at regional and continental levels. His career began in technical computer development, leading to a Master's in Applied Computer Science and International Electronic Services, complemented by certifications from institutions like the Judge Business School at Cambridge University. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in computer science at Nazi Boni University, focusing on interoperability, resilience, and governance of large information systems. Before his continental roles, Guiguemdé was instrumental in modernizing Burkina Faso's digital administration. Starting in 2010, he developed national digital platforms for the Ministry of ICT and later led the standardization and integration department at the National Agency for the Promotion of ICT ANPTIC. In 2017, he became Director General of Digital Industry Development, overseeing the national digital industry strategy, startup ecosystem, digital skills programs, and coordinating digital resilience initiatives during the Covid-19 pandemic.
