Botswana government clarifies position on Ramatlabama FMD culling

Botswana's Ministry of Lands and Agriculture has refuted claims that the government is against culling cattle infected with Foot and Mouth Disease FMD at the Ramatlabama National Artificial Insemination Laboratory and Training Centre. Acting Minister Edwin Dikoloti addressed the media, stating the ministry is aware of social media reports suggesting the government is unwilling to cull its own multimillion-pula cattle while culling those of ordinary farmers. Dikoloti clarified that these claims are concerning and misleading, particularly those implying differential treatment for government-owned livestock to maintain beef export status.
