Kwara Senator Saliu Mustapha resigns from APC
Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, has resigned his membership from the All Progressives Congress APC. He announced his decision on his verified Facebook page, accompanied by a resignation letter dated August 14, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of the APC, Gambari Ward 1, Ilorin East Local Government Area. Mustapha stated that the decision followed weeks of consultations with stakeholders, supporters, and constituents across Kwara Central. He cited recent developments within the Kwara State chapter of the APC as the reason for his resignation, emphasizing that the decision was not taken lightly. The Senator, who was elected on the APC platform, expressed his belief that politics should be centered on people, principles, and purpose. He thanked the APC leadership under President Bola Tinubu for the relationships and experiences gained during his membership. Mustapha assured his constituents and supporters that his commitment to representing them remains unchanged, despite his change in political platform. His resignation occurs amidst political realignments in Kwara ahead of the 2027 general elections and growing disagreements within the state APC chapter. He was previously associated with the G15 / TOP, a group of aggrieved APC stakeholders in the state.
