Egypt and allies warn Israeli attacks in Gaza threaten political process and escalation
Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, T眉rkiye, and Saudi Arabia have issued a joint statement condemning Israel's ongoing violations in Gaza. The foreign ministers of these eight countries warned that these actions threaten to derail the political process and reignite escalation. They specifically cited the targeting of healthcare facilities, medical infrastructure, and civilian infrastructure, as well as the continued loss of civilian lives, including women and children. The ministers stressed that these attacks violate international law and Israel's obligations under the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict. They also stated that the attacks undermine efforts to implement the plan's second phase, which followed US President Donald Trump's announcement that Palestinian factions accepted a roadmap for disarmament. The statement called for the protection of civilians, medical facilities, and personnel, and for the immediate, safe, and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. The ministers linked the Gaza violations to broader Israeli policies, including settler attacks in the occupied West Bank, illegal settlement expansion, and unilateral measures in occupied Jerusalem, which they described as a systematic policy to impose a fait accompli and undermine the two-state solution.
