Award-winning Egyptian film The Settlement to screen at Zawya Cinema

Mohamed Rashad's Egyptian workplace thriller, The Settlement, will screen in Cairo at Zawya Cinema on April 8th at 7:00 PM as part of the CineMAD Program. The initial screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the director and cast. Inspired by a true story, the film follows two brothers, 23-year-old Hossam and 12-year-old Maro, in an Alexandrian community after their father's death in a workplace accident. The factory offers them jobs instead of accountability, leading the brothers to question the truth. The Settlement was the only Egyptian film selected for the Perspectives section at the Berlin International Film Festival. It won the Audience Award at the MiWorld Young Film Festival and Afrikaldia Film Festival, the Silver Whir Award at the Oran International Arab Film Festival, and the Bronze Star for Best Narrative Film at the El Gouna Film Festival. The film features Adham Shukr, Ziad Islam, Hajar Omar, Hanaday Abd El Khalek, Mohamed Abdel Hady, and Emad Ghoneim, with cinematography by Mahmoud Lotfi and editing by Heba Othman. It is a co-production between Egypt, France, Germany, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, produced by Hala Lotfy of Hassala Films.
