Telecel Ghana CEO urges mining industry to build agile talent for a technology-driven future
Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai, Telecel Ghana CEO, challenged Ghana鈥檚 mining industry to prioritize talent development for a technology-driven future, emphasizing that people, not just technology, transform organizations. Speaking at the 7th Biennial Human Resource Conference of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, she outlined three priorities: training for agile capabilities, integrating continuous learning into daily work, and leveraging diversity for innovation. Ing. Obo-Nai highlighted the need for organizations to recruit for adaptability and curiosity, and to provide continuous learning opportunities to prevent skills from becoming obsolete. She also advocated for stronger efforts to attract and retain women in engineering and technical fields, citing Telecel鈥檚 Female Engineering Students Scholarship Programme and DigiTech Academy as examples. Ghana Chamber of Mines CEO, Ing. Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, echoed these sentiments, stressing the industry's human potential and the need for deliberate capability development. He called for greater collaboration between academia and industry, envisioning future workplaces as environments for experimentation and learning. The conference positioned human resources as central to building the capabilities necessary for the mining sector's future competitiveness.
