Military relocates Operation Safe Haven headquarters to Mangu following Plateau killings
The Joint Security Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, has moved its tactical headquarters from Jos to Mangu Local Government Area in Plateau State. This redeployment follows a series of attacks in Mangu, including a recent assault on Binper Village that resulted in over 25 deaths. Major-General Williams Dangana, Commander of OPSH and General Officer Commanding, 3 Division, Nigerian Army, stated that the decision aims to enhance operational efficiency and response time by establishing a physical presence in Mangu. The relocation is supported by additional troops, equipment, and logistics approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Waidi Shaibu. The military has also launched Operation Hard Nut to dismantle armed groups and restore order in Mangu and surrounding areas. Dangana assured residents of a sustained military presence to clear hostile elements and ensure long-term safety. This move is expected to improve coordination among security forces and local stakeholders as operations intensify under Operation Hard Nut.
