
Algerian Younes Ayachi wins U20 high jump world championship in Eugene
Algeria celebrates a new world champion as Younes Ayachi secured a gold medal in the U20 high jump final at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, USA. At just 18 years old, Ayachi cleared a height of 2.21 meters, surpassing India's Basant, who took silver, and Great Britain's Otis Poole, who earned bronze. This victory marks a significant achievement for the young Algerian athlete, building on a season where he set a new Algerian U20 record of 2.28 meters, which is also his personal best. His performance in Eugene confirms his rapid ascent in the sport and positions him as a promising talent in Algerian athletics. The Algerian delegation continues its participation in the U20 World Championships with 16 athletes competing across various events.
