Algeria ranks as 8th largest importer of Egyptian food products
Algeria has become the 8th largest global importer of Egyptian food products, according to a statement from Egypt's State Information Service SIS released on August 30, 2026. Over the first seven months of 2026, Egypt's food exports totaled $4.47 billion worldwide. Algeria's imports accounted for $159 million of this total, representing a 29% increase compared to the same period in 2025, a rise of $36 million. This volume makes up nearly 4% of Egypt's total food exports. The growth in sales to Algeria is primarily driven by increased exports of edible oils, molasses, and frozen strawberries. Saudi Arabia remains Egypt's top export market, followed by the United States, Libya, Jordan, the Netherlands, Spain, and Sudan. Other significant Arab markets include Iraq, Palestine, and the United Arab Emirates. Neither Tunisia nor Morocco are listed among Egypt's top 15 food export markets.
