German industrial giants show interest in Algeria's energy sector

The discussions focused primarily on the hydrocarbons and energy sectors. High-level officials from both countries, including ambassadors and heads of national agencies, attended the meeting. German companies such as Bosch Energy, Thyssenkrupp Uhde, VNG, and Siemens Energy were represented.

Key areas of discussion included oil, natural gas, engineering, infrastructure, equipment manufacturing, seawater desalination, natural gas and LNG commercialization, and low-carbon technologies in the oil and gas industry. The two parties also explored Sonatrach's projects related to green hydrogen and green ammonia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies, with a focus on electrolyzer manufacturing, training, and expertise transfer. Methane emission reduction, management, and recovery were also addressed, alongside the development of joint industrial technology projects and the promotion of local content.

Mohamed Arkab emphasized the importance of the partnership with Germany, highlighting the development of Algeria's petrochemical industry and offering facilities to German companies for investment.
