AI uncovers identical documents among over 1,000 operators in Algeria's import programs
Algeria's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion has identified suspicious anomalies in the import programs of 1,013 economic operators. An AI-powered digital analysis system detected identical documents and data being used across multiple entities for raw material and equipment import programs. These inconsistencies primarily involve official documents such as employee declarations to the CNAS, CASNOS affiliation certificates, and tax roll extracts, which are meant to be unique to each company. Approximately 78.5% of the detected anomalies are concentrated in these three document types, affecting 795 cases. Additionally, 60 dossiers shared identical balance sheets, 56 had the same Tax Identification Number NIF, 38 operators submitted identical lists of goods for investment benefits, 25 had the same registration certificate with the AAPI, 25 shared the same bank account details RIB, and 14 cases involved identical documents for company complementary programs. The ministry is summoning the implicated operators to present original documents for verification. While some discrepancies might be due to administrative errors or legal ties between subsidiaries, the ministry emphasizes that sharing confidential official data among multiple entities is a major anomaly.
