Ogun State Police dismantle alleged baby factory, rescue pregnant women and children
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have dismantled an alleged baby factory in Mowe, rescuing two pregnant women, Ilesanmi Foluke, 23, and Ejekwa Melody, 20, along with four children. Six suspects, including Florence Glory Ogbona, 58, Magdalene Julius, 63, Chidike Egwuonwu, 40, Onyechu Chidike, 35, Stephen Ogbona, 39, and nurse Oseni Kusamotu Idaya, were arrested. The operation, conducted on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Toluwalase Street, Abaren Village, followed intelligence on human trafficking and illegal adoption. Further investigation led police to a hospital where another alleged victim, Blessing Bright Effiong, 26, had given birth on August 20, but the newborn's whereabouts could not be established, leading to the arrest of the attending nurse. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, with a focus on locating the missing infant and prosecuting those responsible. The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers and reaffirmed the command's commitment to combating human trafficking and child trading.
