Zawia depot petrol tank collapses after drone attack, NOC declares maximum emergency
A 4.5 million liter petrol storage tank at the Zawia depot collapsed following a drone attack that set it ablaze. The Ministry of Oil and Gas and the National Oil Corporation NOC condemned the incident, with the NOC declaring a state of maximum emergency in the area. Firefighters worked to control the blaze and prevent its spread to adjacent tanks. The Ministry of Oil and Gas called for an urgent investigation into the drone attacks, emphasizing that oil facilities are vital to the Libyan people and their targeting is a red line. The NOC noted a series of recent attacks, including a drone strike on Tank 1-7 at the Zawiya Refinery last Saturday and another on the Zawiya Water Desalination Plant yesterday, before the latest incident involving Tank 402-T. Both entities stressed the importance of protecting oil facilities and ensuring the continuity of operations, calling for perpetrators to be brought to justice.
