
Committee submits reports ahead of Ghana's 2027 AU Chairmanship
A High-Level Committee of Experts, established by President John Dramani Mahama, has submitted five reports to the President in preparation for Ghana's 2027 African Union AU Chairmanship. The reports were presented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who chaired the committee. The committee's mandate included developing a strategy document, identifying priority areas, and creating a work program for President Mahama's term as AU Chair. According to the Foreign Affairs Minister, these extensive preparations aim to ensure Ghana's tenure is influential and impactful, with a focus on a transformative and bold vision for the continent. The committee expressed confidence in the preparations and wished President Mahama well as he prepares to assume the AU Chairmanship in January 2027. Their work was guided by the objective of advancing Ghana鈥檚 national interests while contributing to Africa鈥檚 development, integration, and collective progress. Ghana's upcoming AU Chairmanship is expected to provide an opportunity to influence continental discussions on key issues such as economic integration, peace and security, development, and regional cooperation.
