Abdourahmane Diouf accuses Ousmane Sonko of purchasing luxury vehicles with political funds
Abdourahmane Diouf, a leader of the presidential party, has challenged Ousmane Sonko's claims regarding the use of political funds from the Prime Minister's office. Sonko, the leader of Pastef, had stated that these funds were used to acquire vehicles for state needs. Diouf, who previously served as Minister of Higher Education, recounted an anecdote about his own vehicle breaking down while he was a minister, noting that all cars were in poor condition at the time. He stated that Sonko, when he was Prime Minister, had instructed against vehicle purchases. Diouf highlighted that Sonko later claimed to have used over 900 million for car purchases, specifically identifying them as luxury Maybach vehicles, which he alleges were bought with political funds. Diouf also asserted that Sonko was aware of public administration acquisition rules, which prohibit the state from buying used goods. Furthermore, Diouf accused the vehicles in question of being "criminal" assets recovered by the state.
