Former APR spokesperson Pape Mahawa Diouf joins President Bassirou Diomaye Faye's Kiiraay movement
Pape Mahawa Diouf, former spokesperson for the Alliance for the Republic APR and former Director General of the Senegalese Agency for Tourism Promotion ASPT under Macky Sall, has announced his adherence to the Kiiraay les patriotes r茅publicains movement, led by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. Diouf's decision marks a significant shift in his political career, given his past role within the previous administration. He justifies his move by citing the country's recent tensions, including "real risks of deep divisions" and threats to institutional balance and national unity. Diouf states that these factors necessitate moving beyond political divides and that he is responding favorably to President Faye's call for reconciliation and the refoundation of Senegal's democracy. His joining is seen as contributing to a new political phase focused on dialogue and strengthening democratic foundations, aligning with the current administration's efforts to broaden its appeal beyond traditional political bases.
