This condition is frequent globally and particularly in Burkina Faso, affecting children aged 0 to 10 years, with a higher prevalence in those aged 7 to 10. The primary cause is viral infections. Key symptoms include abdominal pain and fever, often accompanied by diarrhea and vomiting. Dr. Ouédraogo advises parents to seek medical attention at a health center if these symptoms appear, as they are not exclusive to mesenteric adenolymphitis and could also indicate malaria or typhoid fever. Self-medication should be avoided. Treatment is symptomatic, focusing on pain relief and fever reduction, as the body typically clears the virus on its own.
