
President Tinubu congratulates Governor Adeleke on Osun State re-election, emphasizes democratic flourishing
President Bola Tinubu congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election in the Osun State governorship election, stating that the victory reflects the people's confidence and ensures democracy will continue to flourish in Nigeria. In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu confirmed he called Governor Adeleke to offer his congratulations. He urged Governor Adeleke to unite the people of Osun State and work towards growth, stability, and socio-economic progress. President Tinubu also commended other contestants for their participation and the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies for conducting a peaceful and transparent election. Governor Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, secured 511,067 votes, defeating Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who received 444,815 votes. Governor Adeleke won in 19 of the state's 30 local government areas. This victory marks his second term, having been elected in 2022 under the Peoples Democratic Party before switching to the Accord Party for the 2026 election. Governor Adeleke thanked President Tinubu for his call and reaffirmed his endorsement of President Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
