Vice President Shettima calls for accountability in food security interventions

This call followed the seventh meeting of the Presidential Food Systems Coordinating Unit's Steering Committee, which Shettima chaired. The meeting, held in Abuja, included governors, federal ministers, private sector representatives, and development partners, and focused on reviewing Nigeria's food systems and coordinating actions for domestic production and food availability. Shettima urged for increased domestic food production and measures to make food more affordable.

He highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts among federal and state governments, the private sector, and relevant institutions to achieve President Bola Tinubu's food security agenda. With the main harvest approaching, the committee discussed supporting farmers, improving food movement from producing areas to consumers, and strengthening strategic reserves.
