
Ivorian radiologists trained on new BI-RADS 2025 lexicon to improve breast cancer screening
Radiologists, medical specialists, and medical imaging professionals in C么te d'Ivoire have received training on the new BI-RADS v2025 lexicon recommendations during a continuing medical education session focused on breast imaging. This update aims to standardize diagnostic practices and enhance the quality of reports, promoting earlier and more effective breast cancer management. The training, held at the Bingerville Mother-Child Hospital amphitheater, gathered 121 participants, including 45 radiologists, 17 hospital interns, 45 medical imaging specialized diploma doctors, five medical imaging engineers, and nine senior medical imaging technicians. Professor GUI-BILE Lynda, a full professor of radiodiagnostics and medical imaging at F茅lix Houphou毛t-Boigny University and a specialist in women's and oncological imaging, led the session. She explained that the update addresses breast cancer as a major public health issue and emphasized the crucial role of radiologists throughout the patient care pathway, from screening to therapeutic follow-up. The new BI-RADS version introduces changes in describing breast anomalies, including new formulations, the removal of obsolete descriptors, and a reorganization of criteria for more consistent image interpretation.
