United Capital reports 80% profit growth to N24.78bn in first half of 2026

This compares to N13.79bn recorded in the same period of 2025. According to its unaudited financial statements filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited, gross earnings expanded by 58 percent year-on-year to N37.49bn from N23.76bn in H1 2025. Profit after tax surged 77 percent to N21.10bn from N11.89bn in the prior-year period, and annualised earnings per share also rose 77 percent to 234 kobo.

The board of directors approved an interim dividend of 30 kobo per share, totaling N5.4bn for shareholders. Group Chief Executive Officer, Peter Ashade, attributed this performance to disciplined execution of strategic priorities, a robust business model, prudent risk management, and a commitment to sustainable value creation. Shareholders' funds increased by 25 percent year-to-date to N187.09bn.

Revenue growth was significant across primary business lines, with net trading income soaring 1,083 percent to N4.96bn, fee and commission income growing 26 percent to N14.28bn, net investment income climbing 45 percent to N13.81bn, and net gains on financial assets rising 132 percent to N4.67bn. Total operating expenses for the six months were N14.53bn, a 37 percent increase from N10.61bn in the corresponding period of the previous year.
