Tunisia's inflation rate declines to 5.1% in July 2026, according to INS

This slowdown is primarily attributed to a less rapid increase in food prices, despite significant year-on-year rises for several basic commodities. The deceleration in the "Food and beverages" group, which saw prices increase by 6.6% in July compared to 7.1% in June, contributed to this trend. Conversely, the "Tobacco" group experienced an acceleration in price increases, from 1% in June to 1.3% in July, and the "Restaurants and hotels" group also saw an increase from 6.3% to 6.5% over the same period.

Year-on-year, the "Food and beverages" group's 6.6% increase was driven by rises in lamb 16.7%, fresh fruit 13.8%, beef 13.7%, poultry 12.5%, and fresh fish 11.6%. However, edible oils decreased by 4.9% and eggs by 3.8%. Manufactured goods prices rose by 4.7% year-on-year, influenced by clothing and footwear 9.1% and household maintenance products 4.7%.

Services increased by 4.3% annually, mainly due to a 16.6% rise in accommodation services. Underlying inflation, excluding food and energy, decreased to 4.8% in July from 4.9% in June. Prices for unregulated products increased by 6.2% year-on-year, while regulated products rose by 1.1%.
