Olive oil exports increase by 55% and generate over 4.6 billion dinars
Olive oil exports saw significant growth in both volume and value during the first nine months of the 2025/2026 campaign. From November 2025 to July 2026, quantities sold on foreign markets reached 368,000 tons, a 55.3% year-on-year increase, according to data from the National Observatory of Agriculture Onagri. This strong volume growth was accompanied by a 44.4% rise in revenue, totaling 4.605 billion dinars, up from 3.190 billion dinars the previous year. Packaged olive oil exports also increased by 50.8%, from 34,100 tons in the 2024/2025 campaign to 51,500 tons this season. Despite this, packaged oil still accounts for only 14% of exported volumes, with bulk oil representing 86%. Similarly, only 18.6% of export revenues came from packaged oil, compared to 81.4% from bulk. Extra virgin olive oil remains dominant, making up 83.6% of total exported volume. In July 2026, the average export price for Tunisian olive oil was 13.16 dinars per kilogram, a 1.4% increase from 12.97 dinars in July 2025. Prices varied between 8.22 and 17 dinars per kilogram depending on the category. By the end of July, Tunisian olive oil was sold in over 70 countries. The European Union is the primary market, accounting for 57.1% of exported volumes, with Spain at 32.1% and Italy at 20%. North America absorbed 24% of exports, mainly the United States 19.2% and Canada 4.8%. Asia represented 11.3% of volumes, including Saudi Arabia 4.6% and Jordan 3.1%.
