Tinubu group calls for decentralization of powers across ministries, departments, and agencies

Atoyebi expressed concern that an excessive concentration of decision-making power among some ministers and political appointees leads to government institutions struggling when their heads are absent. He emphasized that governance should not be a "one-man show" and that public service should not depend on an individual's physical presence. Atoyebi recommended that President Tinubu direct all MDAs to establish clear operational structures and empower deputies to assume responsibilities in the absence of their principals.

He warned that a lack of formal handover arrangements could hinder procurement, payments, and project execution. Additionally, Atoyebi called for a direct feedback channel, such as a presidential feedback box or digital portal, for Nigerians to communicate concerns, ideas, and reports to the Presidency. He also suggested appointing a Senior Special Assistant to the President on Policy Coordination to monitor MDAs and ensure administrative continuity, particularly regarding the accessibility and performance of political appointees and proper handover procedures during official travel.

These reforms, he stated, would reduce administrative bottlenecks, enhance accountability, and improve government service delivery.
