Tiémoko Meyliet Koné represents Alassane Ouattara at AU extraordinary summit in Luanda

He will represent President Alassane Ouattara at the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the African Union AU. The session, scheduled for August 29 and 30, 2026, in the Angolan capital, will focus on "Strengthening mechanisms for conflict prevention and resolution in Africa." African Heads of State and Government will assess the effectiveness of existing continental mechanisms for conflict prevention and resolution.

They will also examine ways to enhance their implementation, coordination, and funding, as crisis prevention and peacebuilding remain major challenges for the continent. The Luanda meeting aims to provide African leaders with an opportunity to consider more effective and coordinated responses to security challenges and conflicts affecting certain regions of the continent. During the session, Vice President Tiémoko Meyliet Koné is also expected to hold discussions with several heads of delegation and other high-ranking officials.
