Tebboune appoints new Minister of Industry, Fouzia Naâma promoted to Minister Delegate

Farid Kourtel has been named Minister of Industry. Fouzia Naâma has been appointed Minister Delegate for Local Authorities, reporting to the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport. Farid Kourtel, an academic and expert in economic and administrative sciences, previously served as an economic advisor to the President and headed the Ali Lounici University of Blida 2.

His appointment to the Ministry of Industry aligns with the country's economic ambitions to revive manufacturing, substitute imports, and upgrade national production. Fouzia Naâma, formerly the wali of Boumerdès, will now oversee local authorities, a move aimed at easing the burden on the extensive Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, which manages territorial administration, civil security, municipal affairs, and mobility. These appointments follow a partial cabinet reshuffle where four new ministers were named, including Mohamed Lamine Lebbou as Minister of Finance, Mohamed Hattab for Labor, Employment, and Social Security, Sid Ali Khaldi for Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries, and Mohamed Bouslimani for Communication.
