Zimbabwe Olympic Committee unveils 11-member team for Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics
The Zimbabwe Olympic Committee ZOC has announced an 11-member athlete delegation to represent the nation at the upcoming Youth Olympic Games YOG in Dakar, Senegal. The event, scheduled from October 31 to November 13, 2026, marks the first time an Olympic event will be hosted on African soil. Team Zimbabwe will compete across seven sports disciplines, with the squad comprising four swimmers, two track and field athletes, and one representative each in cycling, equestrian, judo, rowing, and triathlon. Notable athletes include Rachel O'Donoghue, Zimbabwe鈥檚 top-ranked youth female triathlete, Rohnan Nicholson, a double National Junior Champion in cycling, and Arianna Robinson, who secured a gold medal at the South African Senior National Rowing Championships. The athlete roster features Prudence Kasuwa in Women鈥檚 Discus Throw, Tanatswa Magwindi in Men's Triple Jump, Rohnan Nicholson in Men's Road Race, Terry Angelos in Equestrian Jumping, and Makanaka Nherera in Women's -78kg judo. The swimming team includes Alexis Johnsen Women's 50m Freestyle, Daniella Viki Women's 800m Freestyle, Connor Grist Men's 400m Freestyle, and Nkomazana Kwandokuhle Men's 50m Butterfly.
