South African delegation finally departs for Mexico after visa delays

The national football federation Safa issued an apology for the inconvenience. Four members of the delegation did not receive their visas in time, causing the planned Sunday departure to be postponed. The Minister of Sports, Gayton McKenzie, had demanded explanations and promised action against those responsible for the "chaos."

Despite losing a day of preparation, Safa stated that the team's schedule remains on track. The Bafana Bafana are set to face Mexico in the opening match on June 11 in Mexico City. They will then travel to Atlanta, United States, to play the Czech Republic on June 18, before returning to Mexico, in Monterrey, for a third match against South Korea on June 25.
