Souleymane Diallo expected to be interim coach for Senegal national team

This decision comes as the search for Pape Thiaw's successor continues. Diallo's interim role is expected to be short-term, primarily covering the first two match days of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in September. During this period, Senegal's national team, known as the Lions, will play Mozambique at home and then travel to Ethiopia to face the Waliyas.

This interim arrangement allows the FSF to ensure sporting continuity for the national team at the beginning of the qualifiers while taking time to finalize the selection process for a new permanent coach following Pape Thiaw's official departure.
