Senegal's extractive industries revenue grows by 28% in first half of 2025, driven by oil and gas

Of this amount, 293.24 billion FCFA, representing 96.77% of the total revenue, was allocated directly to the state budget. This information comes from the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative ITIE report for the first half of 2025, prepared by the CECA/EnerTeam group, an independent administrator mandated by the National Committee of the ITIE. The report details revenues from mining and hydrocarbon resources, attributing the growth primarily to increased oil and gas production from the Sangomar and Grand Tortue Ahmeyim GTA projects.

While the mining sector remains the largest contributor, generating 224.45 billion FCFA 74.07% of sector revenues, the hydrocarbon sector saw a significant increase of 65.9%, with revenues rising from 45.79 billion to 75.95 billion FCFA. This surge is linked to new projects entering production and, notably, revenues from the state's share of production, which alone contributed 37.50 billion FCFA in the first half of 2025. The report highlights the growing output from Sangomar, operational since June 2024, and GTA, which began production in 2025.

Sangomar produced 18 million barrels of oil in the first half of the year.
