Senegalese football officials await promised rewards months after CAN 2025 victory

Months after Senegal's triumph at the CAN 2025, members of the Senegalese delegation, particularly football officials, are still awaiting parts of the promised rewards. Following the victory, celebrated on January 18 at the Moulay Abdallah Stadium in Rabat, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye announced financial bonuses, decorations in the National Order of the Lion, and land allocations, especially on the Petite Côte. While national team players, including Sadio Mané, received their 75 million CFA francs bonuses and team members and technical staff were decorated at an official palace ceremony, the situation for the "federals" remains unresolved. These officials were initially expected to be elevated to the rank of the National Order of the Lion after the official ceremony, but no decorations have been awarded to them to date. A list of decorated individuals published in early April did not include any members of the Senegalese Football Federation, raising questions about their recognition. Furthermore, the promised land allocations have not yet materialized, with no concrete attributions recorded.
