US delays ambassador nomination for Senegal and Guinea-Bissau despite new diplomatic appointments

What distinguishes the current situation is the lack of a publicly identified successor, with no candidate announced for Senegal and Guinea-Bissau more than seven months into the interim period. The State Department, when questioned, emphasized Senegal's crucial role as a regional hub for US engagement in West Africa, citing economic growth, security cooperation, and expanding diplomatic relations. They referred inquiries about ambassadorial nominations to the White House.
