Senator Oshiomhole advocates for shooting armed criminals on sight, urges President Tinubu to set deadline for service chiefs on insecurity

This statement comes after the Nigeria Police Force clarified that the IGP did not issue a "shoot-on-sight" order, but rather referred to Force Order 237, which outlines the legal use of firearms by officers. Oshiomhole also commended the Department of State Services for appealing a court judgment that handed life imprisonment instead of death sentences to convicted offenders. He identified insecurity as the primary obstacle to President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid in the upcoming year, urging the President to set a firm deadline for service chiefs to end insecurity.

The former Edo State governor emphasized the need for a benchmark to measure the military's performance against resources provided. He dismissed claims of President Tinubu's low visibility, stating he has observed the President addressing forums and commenting on various issues. Oshiomhole acknowledged the opposition's right to criticize but warned of a reciprocal response from the ruling party.

He attributed the emergence of Peter Obi as a political force in the last election to public anger during the tenure of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
