FIFA: Complications for the FSF in the Pape Thiaw case
The Senegalese Football Federation FSF could face significant financial repercussions if the case involving former coach Pape Thiaw is brought before the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber DRC and results in a conviction. Despite a formal notice from Pape Thiaw, the FSF has not yet responded to his claims. According to Malang Sané, Pape Thiaw's lawyers are preparing to escalate the matter to the FIFA DRC, which handles disputes between federations and technical staff. This action could lead to the FSF being ordered to pay both salary arrears and compensation for breach of contract. A previous case involving Aliou Cissé against the Libyan Football Federation before the same body is cited as a precedent, suggesting a potentially unfavorable financial outcome for the FSF if the case is decided in Zurich. Malang Sané also highlighted the FSF's problematic communication management of the issue, noting that the Federation reportedly disregarded the Minister of Sports' instruction for strict media silence by sending Bacary Cissé, president of its communication commission, to television programs. August 21 is indicated as a potential turning point in this legal and media saga.
