Dr Malaza passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026, prompting an outpouring of tributes from colleagues across the region. SADC-PF secretary-general Boemo Sekgoma announced her passing, expressing deep sorrow. Dr Malaza brought over two decades of experience in education, governance, research, and regional development to her role, engaging with various organizations to advance inclusive governance and sustainable development.
Her career included more than 13 years in secondary education, serving as head of the Environmental Science and Planning Department at Manzini Nazarene High School and deputy principal at St. Michael鈥檚 High School. She also worked as a lecturer and head of department at Ngwane Teacher Training College and as a training and research consultant at the Mananga International Institute of Development and Management Training. At the regional level, she contributed significantly to parliamentary capacity development as a capacity development and curriculum development officer at the SADC-PF, leading training programs for parliamentarians across several SADC Member States.
Colleagues remembered her contributions to higher education as a research supervisor at Monash South Africa.
