Senegalese women's basketball team criticizes federation's attitude after Olympic qualifiers
Following a disappointing performance at the Olympic qualifying tournament in Guadalajara, where the Senegalese women's national basketball team suffered three losses, players are now raising concerns about their relationship with the Senegalese Basketball Federation FSBB. Ndioma Kane, a former Al Ahly player, openly expressed her incomprehension regarding the federation's attitudes on Instagram. She believes that international players should be able to voice their concerns freely without their remarks being dismissed as disrespectful. Kane emphasized, "We also have the right to speak, to ask questions, and to express what we feel," highlighting what she perceives as a lack of consideration for the players. She also questioned why raising a complaint or asking a question leads to a player being labeled "impolite." The players, known as the Lionesses, are calling for more dialogue, listening, and consideration from their federation. Cierra Dillard supported Kane's message, amplifying the concerns within the team. Beyond the athletic disappointment in Guadalajara, Senegalese women's basketball now faces the challenge of re-establishing dialogue between the players and the federation to move forward on a better foundation for future competitions.
