Rigathi Gachagua alleges Interior Cabinet Secretary ordered release of officers in Dr. Victoria Mutiso murder case

Gachagua made these claims on Sunday, August 9, stating that Dr. Mutiso, a psychiatrist, was killed over a disputed KSh 1.5 billion land deal. He alleged that initial attempts were made to blame a boda boda rider and a motorist for the killing. Gachagua further claimed that Kikuyu Police Station is a crime scene where murders across the country are planned, with officers allegedly paid KSh 500,000 to carry out killings.

He called for the removal of the station's OCS and all attached officers, and for an accounting of guns he claims went missing during protests but were never officially recovered. In related news, on Saturday, August 8, senior security officers from the Central Region, led by David Loronyokwe, launched an intensified search for the two officers after they were named as key suspects. Dr. Mutiso was shot dead by armed men in the Upper Hill area of Nairobi while travelling to work.

Three family members and a suspected shooter had earlier been arrested and detained.
