Mansour Faye clarifies Macky Sall's visit to Senegal, citing UN Secretary-General candidacy
Mansour Faye, Mayor of Saint-Louis, addressed speculation surrounding former President Macky Sall's recent visit to Senegal, dismissing claims of hidden partisan motives as "pure political manipulation." Faye stated that Sall's trip to Dakar was solely for matters related to his candidacy for the position of United Nations Secretary-General. He emphasized that the former head of state was in Senegal to present his global vision and program for the international institution, without any secret national political agenda. Faye asserted that Sall's visit was driven by his pursuit of diplomatic support on a global scale, not by Senegalese internal politics. He also commended President Bassirou Diomaye Faye for formally receiving Sall and approving the Senegalese state's support for this international candidacy. Faye described President Diomaye Faye as a "republican patriot" for this significant diplomatic act, believing it honors the institutions of the Republic and demonstrates that the nation's higher interests can transcend political divisions and partisan interests.
