Nigerian Army graduates 1,182 special forces to combat terrorism and other security threats
The Nigerian Army recently graduated 1,182 Special Forces troops from the 10th batch of its Advanced Infantry Training Programme, Exercise Restore Hope X, held at the Nigerian Army Training Centre in Kachia, Kaduna State. This six-month program aims to enhance the Army's counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism capabilities. Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, emphasized that the program is crucial for developing a professional, combat-ready force to address evolving security challenges such as terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and separatist agitations. He urged the graduates to uphold human rights and the rule of law. The graduation coincides with the Army's expansion, with many of these troops forming the foundation of newly established formations. Chief of Training Army, Maj.-Gen. Valentine Okoro, noted that indigenous instructors now fully manage the program, which equips participants with advanced tactical skills, marksmanship, weapon handling, and counter-insurgency operations. Previous graduates have significantly contributed to various operations nationwide.
