Saka scores as Arsenal defeats Aston Villa in Arteta's 250th Premier League game
Bukayo Saka scored the only goal, leading Arsenal to a 1-0 victory over Aston Villa. This win marked manager Mikel Arteta's 250th Premier League game in charge and gave Arsenal their second consecutive league win to start the 2026/27 season. Aston Villa, in contrast, remains without a point after two defeats. Despite an early chance for Villa when Emiliano Buendia hit the crossbar, Arsenal struggled to create clear opportunities in the first half. The Gunners eventually broke the deadlock in the 59th minute when Saka scored his second goal of the season. Villa's debutant goalkeeper Zion Suzuki made a key save against Kai Havertz, and Bruno Guimaraes and Ezri Konsa also made their Arsenal debuts. Arsenal maintained their perfect start to the season and extended their away winning streak in opening league matches to five seasons, while Villa is yet to register a shot on target this season.
