According to Diagne, the President now considers his former companion "no longer trustworthy," citing a "betrayed moral pact" and a "violated" presidential institution as reasons for this distance. Diagne suggests the political bond between them is replaced by deep mistrust.

While acknowledging the possibility of a change due to their shared past, Diagne emphasizes the current dynamic as irreversible, with the gap between them reportedly widening. Diagne further alleges that Ousmane Sonko is actively working to "overthrow" the President, aiming to remove him from office. In response to this perceived political threat, Diagne states that President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has chosen not to yield, opting for resistance and institutional confrontation, intending to "fight" and "be a winner."
