President Bassirou Diomaye Faye made several appointments during the Council of Ministers meeting on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Within the Ministry of Interior and Public Security, Mr. Latyr NDIAYE, formerly Prefect of Kaolack Department, was named Prefect of Ziguinchor Department, replacing Mr. Hamet Tidiane THIAW, who is retiring. Mr. Mamadou GUEYE, previously Prefect of Tivaouane Department, is now Prefect of Kaolack Department, succeeding Mr. Latyr NDIAYE.
