Preparations for Grand Magal of Touba 2026 to begin with local development committee meeting

Preparations for the Grand Magal of Touba, scheduled for 18 Safar 1448 H, corresponding to early August 2026, will officially commence on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. A first meeting of the Local Development Committee CLD will be held at 11 AM at Touba City Hall. The sub-prefect of Ndame will preside over the meeting, with the mayor of Touba also in attendance. This information was reported by Serigne Cheikh Abdoul Lahad Mbacké Gaïndé Fatma. The Grand Magal organizing committee, led by its coordinator Serigne Ousmane Mbacké, will participate in the meeting, following instructions from its president, Serigne Bassirou Abdou Khadre, who is also the spokesperson for the General Caliph of the Mourides. This session marks the first in a series of consultations with administrative and territorial authorities to ensure optimal organization of this major religious event. Discussions will focus on strategic sectors including water supply, sanitation, electricity, security, health, and hygiene. The organizing committee reaffirms its commitment to collaborate closely with competent authorities and all partners to guarantee the smooth running of the Magal under the best conditions, according to Serigne Cheikh Abdoul Ahad Mbacké, president of the Culture and Communication commission of the Grand Magal of Touba organizing committee.
