
Bagre Dam spillage warning issued for August 11, 2026, as water levels rise
The Water Resources Commission WRC has issued a warning that controlled water spillage from Burkina Faso's Bagre Dam could commence on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. This spillage will occur if the reservoir's water level reaches 234.00 meters. As of Tuesday, August 4, 2026, the dam operator SONABEL reported the reservoir at 232.93 meters, indicating it was 62.77% full. The WRC advises communities along the White Volta River and surrounding areas to take necessary precautions and follow safety guidelines from local assemblies and relevant state agencies.
