Peter Obi's 2027 presidential chances weakened by party switch, says former Governor Fayose

Speaking on TVC News’ Politics Tonight, Fayose argued that the disunity among opposition parties, including Obi's move, weakens their collective challenge against the ruling All Progressives Congress APC. He described Obi as a "fantastic Nigerian" but emphasized that the opposition's failure to unite would continue to hinder their success. Fayose noted that it is now too late for opposition parties to reverse course, as the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has already accredited candidates.

Regarding President Bola Tinubu's chances in 2027, Fayose projected strong support from the South-West, estimating about four million votes from the region, which could lead to Tinubu winning with approximately 65 percent of the total votes. Fayose also criticized claims of electoral malpractice, stating that vote-buying was evident across multiple parties, including the APC, Peoples Democratic Party, and Accord Party, during the recent Osun governorship election, highlighting it as a systemic issue requiring collective responsibility.
