Video shows TUM students on bus before fatal Kisumu highway accident
A video has emerged showing Technical University of Mombasa TUM students riding on the exterior of a bus shortly before a fatal accident near Ahero on the Kisumu highway on August 7. The students were traveling to bury their former student leader, Elvis "Beast" Otieno. The footage, filmed from a nearby vehicle, depicts students on the roof and outside frame of the moving bus. According to TUM management, the last bus in the convoy was involved in an accident when its driver swerved to avoid an oncoming speeding saloon car, causing the bus to roll. Two male students died at the scene, and 29 others were injured. While 14 students treated at Lisa Hospital were discharged, 15 remained at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, with one transferred to Aga Khan Hospital's High Dependency Unit. The university expressed grief and urged its community to rely on official communications.
