Pastef deputy Djiby Ciss defends support for President Bassirou Diomaye Faye
Pastef deputy Djiby Ciss has addressed criticism regarding his support for President Bassirou Diomaye Faye in the National Assembly. Accused by some of betraying his party's stance, Ciss denied the allegations, stating he followed instructions from Ousmane Sonko during a meeting in Saly. Sonko reportedly advised deputies to exercise their mandate freely and vote according to their convictions. Ciss emphasized his freedom to vote and asserted his loyalty to Pastef, noting his entry into the National Assembly was facilitated by his inclusion on lists by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. He also expressed concern over ongoing tensions between the Executive and Legislative branches, suggesting that if reconciliation is not achieved, the dissolution of the National Assembly might be considered to prevent negative consequences for the country and its citizens.
