
Botswana's largest banks project significant profit increases after challenging 2025
Botswana's two largest commercial banks anticipate a combined increase of up to P317 million in pretax profits, signaling a turnaround for the banking sector after a difficult 2025. First National Bank Botswana, the country's largest bank, expects its pretax profits for the full year ended June 2026 to rise by as much as P235 million, building on the P1.9 billion reported in the year ended June 2025. Absa Bank Botswana, the second largest bank, projects its pretax profits for the half year to June to increase by up to P82 million, following P412 million in the prior period.
