NCDMB and Renaissance Africa Energy launch 12-month oil and gas training for 300 Nigerians
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board NCDMB, in partnership with Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited, has initiated a 12-month Oil and Gas Field Readiness Training Programme for 300 young Nigerians. This program aims to equip graduates in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineering with technical and professional skills for careers in the petroleum industry. The training includes three months of classroom instruction followed by nine months of on-the-job experience with partner oil and gas service companies. Of the 300 participants selected through a competitive process, 240 will train in Lagos and 60 in Port Harcourt. Felix Ogbe, Executive Secretary of the NCDMB, stated that the initiative aligns with the Board's mandate to build local capacity, increase Nigerian participation in the oil and gas sector, and create employment. He emphasized that specialized skills in automation, instrumentation, and engineering operations are crucial for the safe and efficient exploitation of Nigeria's petroleum resources. Anambra teacher accused of flogging 12-year-old boy to death surrenders to police
Mrs. Dim Ebere, a 47-year-old teacher, has voluntarily reported to the Neni Police Station in Anambra State. She is the principal suspect in the alleged death of a 12-year-old boy who reportedly died from injuries sustained during a flogging incident at a school in Adazi-Enu, Anaocha Local Government Area. The Anambra State Police Command had launched a manhunt for Mrs. Ebere, and she surrendered following sustained operations by the command’s Safe School Protection Squad, in collaboration with officers from the Neni Divisional Police Headquarters and engagement with community leaders. Mrs. Ebere is currently in police custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for further investigation. The police command has assured the public that justice will be served and urged calm, requesting continued cooperation with ongoing investigations.
