Ousmane Sonko seeks clarification from Justice Minister on land allocation investigation

These operations are the subject of a proposed parliamentary inquiry commission. Sonko stated that if insufficient information is provided to confirm the judicial procedure covers all relevant facts, the National Assembly intends to proceed with its investigations. He explained that he received two responses from the Justice Minister.

The first mentioned a judicial investigation into land allocations around the airport, specifically near the pilgrims' hangar. Finding this insufficient, Sonko requested additional clarification. A second response indicated an investigation by the National Gendarmerie's Research Section, initiated by the financial prosecutor, with a finalized report.

However, Sonko believes this judicial procedure does not appear to cover all land allocation operations targeted by the resolution proposal, particularly those concerning the coastal zone. He noted that a judicial procedure covering the same facts would prevent the creation or continuation of a parliamentary inquiry commission. Therefore, the key is to precisely determine the scope of the ongoing judicial procedure.
